About
I’ve had a lot to say, and no real place to say it. I spent too long trying to decide whether to write under my own name or some alternatively titled site far catchier than my surname. There are of course risks with being explicit about who you are as you say what you say: the extension what could be criticism of what is said to criticism of the person saying it, the exposing of oneself to the judgments of character evaluation through someone Google profiling, and appearing narcissistic, among others. But I’ve decided that I know who I am and am prepared to stand by what I say.
That definitely doesn’t mean I’m always right, or that my views won’t change. Part of why I’m writing is because these ideas are important to me, and if I’m wrong or need more information, I think this will be a good way for me to correct myself and find out what I need to know. I hope to get feedback and argumentation, to expand or refine my views, shaped by an Internet populace that knows far more than I, especially since some of my views are rather unconventional. That said, I hope to maintain a standard of journalistic integrity in my fact-checking and sourcing.
I also don’t yet know how personal I will get with what I say, or how casual I’ll get in how I say it. I guess I’ll see what comes out.
I think that our world is amazing, but it can stand to be a better, more caring place. I hope to discuss the things that bother me that I think need fixing, at the risk of seeming naive and unrealistic. Much of what I have to say will also bear heavily on technology’s role in how we live, since it defines much of our age and the means by which we move it forward.
Thanks for coming, welcome, and I hope you enjoy what you read.
